How the Prize Structure Works
The 1st Prize is drawn on the full 4-digit ticket number — the winner must match all four digits. Consolation prizes go to the tickets drawn immediately before and after the 1st Prize number. The lower tiers (2nd to 7th) match on progressively shorter digit sequences of the ticket number — such as the last 2 or 3 digits — which is why the number of prizes climbs sharply towards the 7th Prize. With 17,500 winning 7th Prize tickets per draw, the odds of matching at least one tier are far higher than a single 4-digit match.
How to Claim Your Prize
- Submit your original winning ticket, a clear copy of your photo identity proof (such as Aadhaar, PAN, or Voter ID), and your bank details to the district lottery office where the ticket was purchased.
- Prizes above a certain amount are paid by crossed bank cheque or bank transfer only; prizes below the threshold can be collected from the approved stockist or agent with proper identification.
- Keep the original ticket safe and unmarked — the ticket is the sole evidence of winning and cannot be replaced if lost or tampered with.
- Punjab State Lotteries typically accepts prize claims within 30 days of the draw date. Always confirm the current claim window for your specific draw before submitting.
Tax on Lottery Winnings
Under the Income-tax Act, lottery winnings above the exemption threshold attract TDS at a flat 30% rate, deducted by the lottery department before the prize is paid. The amount you receive may therefore be less than the advertised prize. This is general information only — please consult the current tax rules or a tax professional for your situation.
